The highlight of every season is the Varsity Match, which pits our Blues teams against their equivalents from the University of Cambridge. The first Varsity Match was held in 1925, and was won by Oxford. As of 2014, there have been 83 Men’s Varsity Matches, with 37 Oxford wins; and around 40 Women’s Varsity Matches, with 12 Oxford wins of the 21 we have records for.
The 2014 Varsity Match (kindly sponsored by Aberdeen Asset Management) was held on the 22nd of February, at the RAC Club on Pall Mall, which has a rich 100-year plus history of squash. Cambridge won the men’s match 5-0, and Oxford the women’s match 4-1. The 2015 Varsity Match will take place on Saturday 14th February, once again at the RAC. The women’s match will be first, starting at 1:30 pm, and the men’s match will follow at 4 pm.
Our Squirrels and Ferrets play a 2nds Varsity Match, held in either Cambridge or Oxford (alternating yearly). The 2014 2nds Varsity Match was held at the Iffley Road squash courts in Oxford on the 8th of March. The Squirrels lost 5-0, and the Ferrets won 4-1. The 2015 2nds Varsity Match, will be held in Cambridge on Saturday 7th March.
