Oxford vs. Escorts
On 23rd February, OUSRC welcomed the Escorts to Iffley Road to play in our annual fixture. The Escorts are a team much like the Jesters, who travel to various clubs around the country and partake in a friendly but competitive game of squash, usually followed by some welcome socialising afterwards.
Always a fixture that the club and its players look forwards to, this match proved no different. Oxford’s line-up was looking particularly strong this year, bolstered by some players brought in from the impressive second team. Ten matches were played in all, with a variety of styles and talents on display. Oxford, perhaps helped by hot courts and youthful legs, managed to win the match 9-1, showing the benefits that Varsity preparations for both the Blues and the Squirrels have brought.
Following the match, the players decamped to Vinnies to watch the 6-nations, and, despite the result, managed to maintain their high spirits for the evening meal at Turl Street Kitchen. It was a great day in all and OUSRC’s thanks go to the Escorts and, in particular, Chris Hobbs for organising the match and making sure it ran smoothly, both on the day and in the lead up to it.
